8 seconds. A cowboy needs to ride a bronc (bucking) horse for only 8 seconds to be successful. That is his job. His one goal: Just. To. Stay. On. For. 8. Seconds.I love watching this event. And I often cheer for the horse. Everyone in the place (with the possible exception of the hot-and-sweaty “just please support my kid’s band” 50/50 ticket sellers and the hawkers of super-sweet cotton candy) is holding their breath until that buzzer goes off.I was at the rodeo at the Calgary Stampede last week, and I was struck by how simple the cowboy’s one job was. And how single-minded they need to be about getting it done. And I also realized that having such a clear goal would be amazing. Do you agree? So many times, as business owners, we get caught up in what we THINK our job is. What services do we provide for our clients and customers? How do we provide value? How do we explain what we do to clients? In my case, seasoned service providers hire me to escape “word overwhelm” and engage with their ideal audience with fun, authentic, true-to-their-brand strategy, website, and email content. So they can grow their business and spend time in THEIR zone of genius, not struggling with creating content. While it’s straightforward (and SO much fun!), it’s not as cut-and-dry as the 8-second gig. What about you? Do you have one goal for clients? Is your business or service offering clear and simple? Do your clients know what you do? I’d love to know.#CopywritingServices#ContentStrategy#SmallBusinessStrategy

Pretty excited about the Joshua v Ngannou fight tonight! And that got me thinking about hard-hitting tactics for construction marketing. OK, it didn't, but any excuse to take a Patrick Batemanesque hard turn in a conversation to shoe-horn in the biggest heavyweight showdown in recent memory, right?!!!Anyway, below are some of the strategies we've been using with our construction clients that have packed a punch (sorry).1. Local and national networking has been key now we're pretty much back to 'old normal'.2. Educational content has established clients expertise and is attracting more prospects3. Strategic partnerships with complementary businesses has expanded reach and market dominance.4. A customer-centric approach, prioritising client satisfaction by getting testimonials and referrals is giving our client's much needed social proof.5. Data-driven decisions and marketing analytics have ensured campaigns land the way their supposed to, and can be optimised based on hard data. We're here if you have any questions, and we offer free sales and marketing consultations and digital reviews - and apologies if you've seen this before - but you really should never include a link to an outside source on LinkedIn, as my original post only reached 8 people... #ConstructionMarketing hashtag#MarketingStrategies hashtag#BusinessSuccess hashtag#boxingnews

Who is the villain your client is up against? One of my favorite things to do with clients is to name the villain in their client’s story. Who are they up against? What is the common enemy that they must slay to overcome their struggle? Naming the villain does two things: First, it shifts the blame of the situation from the person to an outside force. (This is a brilliant way to get around pain point marketing). There’s a massive difference between saying: “The way web celebs taught you how to market isn’t for you,” vs. “You don’t know how to market your business.” Second, it invokes the common enemy effect. Where you and your potential client are fighting the same villain together. You’re in it together (which also invokes a feeling of cooperation and belonging). So, who's the Darth Vader in your client's journey? #messaging #marketing #onlinebusiness #contentmarketing
