One of THOSE days. Emissions test, Passed  and suspension change over. I'm running on 4 taquitos and some beer, its going somewhat smoothly (I stopped to check the garage section) but the driver side rear shock mount is a RapeaXe for your arm. :realmad: Gotta come up with an "I wrestled a bear" type story for the coworkers tomorrow.

Played how low the gas gauge would go. Only took 11.5 gallons. Car has a 12.7 gallon tank so still tons of room in the gas tank. Wonder how low it will go.

So now it's an extra 30hp? It was 20 in you're first reply.

Yes you get more mid with a turbo than a SC, towards the redline they average out but turbo still pulls ahead since you dont have the parasitic losses.

I finally got my steering wheel cover in the mail today, so I decided to check that off the list by installing it this evening.
As some of you may remember (http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=6205979&postcount=17) from a few weeks ago (http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=6205991&postcount=18), I had tried to clean the gunk off the wheel with some simple green.
http://i45.tinypic.com/2uo2r6a.jpg
While it worked pretty well, the leather was beyond recovery, so I ordered a $5 leather ''stitch it yourself'' cover from china.
A shout out to Triple88A for providing some awesome instructions and detailed pictures on how to install it! (here (http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=6231325&postcount=12157) and here (http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=6231794&postcount=12169))
Armed with that knowledge, I decided to test my abilities. I think it turned out pretty decent.

You don't need something as strong as simple green to clean steering wheel. Hot water a good micro-fiber cloth does the job.

That's a different EGR CEL usually pointing to a dirty upper/lower intake manifold. It has nothing to do with simply blocking off your EGR tube.

After making a few runs through the Dragon last weekend I had a little issue with my cooling system. The aftermarket radiator caps I had purchased last year was giving up the ghost which lead to some higher temps then I wanted to see. So today I stopped at a local Nelson Mazda dealer to pick up an OEM cap. They didn't have one in stock, but for $20.18 plus shipping they would order one for me. I thanked them, went home and ordered one from Rosenthal for less then $18 with shipping. This is the third time I've gone to Nelson Mazda and been told they don't have parts for a Miata in stock.

BTW, the radiator cap in question fits these cars......

1995-2002 Millenia
2000-2003 MPV

CrazyBlue85

16th March 2013, 18:06

I take it there was a spat a few minutes ago. Unfortunate.

In more positive news, I think the scoop looks interesting. Definitely different, and I personally think it'd look even better if it was body-color. But hey, if you like it as is, it's your car, your money, and your style. Rock it!

In more negative news, I ruined another wheel stud today rotating my tires. This one snapped as I was getting the lug nut off. I think it's time for all the originals to go. I'll order a complete set of new ones and see if I can't find a flange nut with the right pitch depth (which Lowe's doesn't have in any nut style) to seat them.

As a side note, a 27mm 12 or 18 point socket fits just right over the stock Miata jack's round rotating thing that you use the infernal cheap, bendy thing on. Sure, it mars the Rotating Thing(TM), but it goes up and down so much faster and easier with an electric drill. And no, I'm not using my impact wrench on it. That's for special, occasional jobs, unlike tire service centers who think an oversized rattlegun is the solution for all problems, but that's another thread entirely!

16th March 2013, 19:46

Did an oil change, replaced the foam that goes between the radiator and the bumper support, cleaned the MAF, and discovered a tear in my drivers seat cloth on the seat bottom...

This is probably due to how I get in and out of the car (sit, then rotate my legs in) combined with the fact that my top seals (against the window) have decided to start leaking... Those are on order, and I'll have them in on Friday.

Probably going to attempt to use the permatex fabric repair kit to fix the tears in my seats, at least until I can afford replacement upholstery.

I bought a single lug nut from a local auto parts store for around $2.00. Backed it up with a few thick heavy duty washers with some lube between them and pulled the studs up tight slowly and surely with a ratchet.

Increased pressure in the engine bay. Air won't flow as easily into the engine bay through the grill because it has to overcome more pressure.

That's the theory, I'm not sure that it would actually turn out that way.

A radiator needs pressure difference to flow air. Its how air flows... high to low. Do we agree on that?

You want high pressure in front of the radiator and low pressure behind the radiator. Putting hood scoop increases the pressure BEHIND the radiator therefore the pressure difference across the radiator decreases. That is why adding a hood scoop makes the radiator less efficient. If you want better cooling add an extractor vent.

Your right of course it's simple physics. I have vented it at the rear so according to the Venturi effect the air is actually pulled through at an increased rate on cold days you can actually see the hot air venting against the wind screen. The only way I have to quantify this is observation of course and I have seen a noticeable drop according to the temp gauge.

You're not going to see any change on the Temp gauge since it stays at 12 o'clock from roughly 165 to 225 degrees.

BTW take a look in your wheel well the radiator air vents just forward of the front wheels. Also, on a typical West Texas summer day the temp gauge rides at the 2 O'clock position after this install the temp Gauge rides at the aforementioned 12 O'clock.

Then on a typical West Texas summer day you are VERY close to overheating. There is something WRONG with the way your cooling system is working. As I said, the dash board gauge won't move off 12 o'clock until it's at about 225 which is WAY too hot. Here in TN last summer when it was over 100 I was able to maintain 95-100 mph for over an hour with the AC on and the highest temp I saw was 219 (dash gauge STILL at 12' o'clock) while drafting someone.

I'm just questioning the amount of air flow going into a radiator that's positioned pretty close to its " inlet" and the amount of air that's being pushed down, into the engine compartment. I think the difference is negligible, but that's just me. :)

The rest were steady reductions in time, even with a big slide (no cones!) on run #2. My foot is beginning to learn that it's not an on-off switch in Autocross. I even lightly modulated the throttle Senna-style through some corners for grins. I'm not going to be winning any awards this season I'm sure, but I've always known I was a talentless hack. There's always rookie of the year award.
I was amazed that last year (my 4th, but first with the Miata) I took 8th overall in points for our little club. That was on some not so great tires and a car with 120k on original suspension.
You may end up surprising yourself.:)

CrazyBlue85

I think that'll go to one of my new buddies in a nice, stock NC (except for RX-7 wheels and good summer tires). It even has the open diff, which got him into trouble on one run today. It was a spin that he was able to recover from cleanly and safely, tossed it in first as the car finished rotating, and kept going. Otherwise, he's doing quite well and having a lot of fun doing it. On that note, one of the guys that came out two weeks ago traded in his M3(!) for a brand-new NC Clubman/Club Sport/whatever it is with the club badges and nice details. He had a Miata before, "upgraded," kept getting shamed by cars with 1/3 the power, and had to come back.

Started the install of my roll bar...she's still in pieces until next weekend when I have more time.

Coilovers are coming next week, so I'm starting to feel a little pressed for time in a good way!

Whatever you do, make sure you point the seat belt retractors INWARD as opposed to dead center vertically. You'll have to cut the centering tab on the top of the retractor to do it. You can use the existing top 10 mm bolt in the same location to prevent it from rotating back (that and 20 ft/lbs of torque on the bottom 17 mm bolt). Needless to say, this is done much more easily when they're off the car!

Thanks! But if you rotate it inwards, won't the bottom bolt be out of alignment with the lower hole then? Would you have a picture of what you are describing?

The instructions from Bethania leave 'just a little' to be desired.

Kylini

18th March 2013, 12:31

I sadly don't have a picture but imagine the bottom 17 mm bolt as a pivot. If you loosen it, you can rotate the seat belt retractor to the left or the right a limited degree (before the squared off bottom contacts the frame). The top of the retractor has a piece of bent metal meant to center it in a notch cut into the tower frame material. This must be cut off in order to freely rotate the tower and bolt it down in its new position.

I'm just questioning the amount of air flow going into a radiator that's positioned pretty close to its " inlet" and the amount of air that's being pushed down, into the engine compartment. I think the difference is negligible, but that's just me. :)

Any air going through that scoop is that much less going through the radiator.

Did you find 4 wires (2 black, 1 red, 1 green) under the carpet that sits vertically behind the passenger seat back? Wondering what it is for...

Yeah, suppose I should. Yours does look acceptable at least, and we do have the same bumper setup.

Not convinced yet, my LEO friends say not to bother though. But its the law of the land even if its not usually enforced. Bit of a moral quandary for tomorrow

I just installed an electric Hide Away front license plate bracket. I got mine from American Muscle. I know any number of tuner shops carry them. They are universal fit and best of all no holes in the bumper! ( plus it gives you a sorta James Bond effect).

Tried out the Permatex Fabric Repair kit last night (has to dry overnight) and, honestly... It wasn't the greatest thing ever. One thing I will say about it though, is that it definitely is better than having a big rip in the drivers seat.

It'll have to do for now, until I start my new job and can afford to replace the seats / seat upholstery.

For those interested, the part number is 25247, and I paid about $9 for it.

I repaired the door vinyl on mine I could mix a match to save my life! However duplicolor vinyl stain did the trick.

Well, here they are -

The flash makes it look like it's an even more horribly mismatched color... I promise it doesn't look THAT awful.
I repaired two tears that were about 3/4" apart and about 1.5" long. That's the big portion you see. I also preemptively repaired some smaller spots that were starting to separate in an arc, moving down and to the right of the big spot:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/mrkoren/2013-03-19_16-08-53_87_zpsb7951200.jpg

It didn't come out the smoothest, but this is probably due to my sneezing (accidentally inhaled a bit of the powdered fabric) and spilling on the adhesive, then attempting to smooth it after the fact.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/mrkoren/2013-03-19_16-09-02_118_zps4d5ecaed.jpg

It seems like it should well enough for the next few months until I can replace them.

I also picked up a new cup holder today:

Took the MSM through its every-other-year smog check today. The car has a penchant to throw occasional CELs and I keep forgetting to write down the code for further investigation: by the time I think about it, the light's out and it's back to happy motoring. Today the light was out so I caught it on a good day. Took it down for the OBDII scan and it came up with a passing grade.

Thanks, GM2K. Noticed the markings while I was doing my 'paint refresh' project, and decided it seemed an appropriate add-on.

I finished my paint refresh/detail a week ago. I've always kept my car clean and shiny, but lately, I'd been noticing the swirl marks accumulated over 12 years of washing and waxing; they're inevitable on a daily driver no matter how careful you are.

Anyway, here's the trunk lid Before:

Paint correction can be done without wetsanding. You should definitely start with the least aggressive method before going to wetsanding. Autopia.org has a wealth of information on paint correction.

I suggest getting a dual action polisher and a set of pads. You can remove the holograms and swirls with polish without the risk of burning the paint.

I own a Porter Cable DA but I hear good reviews on the Harbor Freight dual action polisher.

I don't know how tall you are, but considering how high up in the car I sit, and then looking at the location of your seat relative to the bar, I can't help but think this thought: If a major league baseball player swung a bat directly into my skull, I would certainly prefer if it had SFI padding on it than not to have it, but regardless, I'm not so sure I would survive the incident either way.

I'm not insanely tall (5'10") but I am large (270 lbs) so I need some space in the cabin. Since installing the roll bar last weekend, I've been moving the seat a notch forward. It still doesn't change the fact that my head (helmet or not) is significantly safer with the padding, no matter how ugly it is.

For racing purposes, the padding doesn't change the fact that I need to buy a harness bar, find a good set of Schroth Rallye 4 anti-submarine harnesses to work with my stock seat during autocross, and look into racing seats for PDX (if and when I get to that point).

For street purposes, it gives me the piece of mind that even in the worst of accidents, any potential head trauma is likely to be survivable without cognitive damage. I'll still be farked up, mind you, but the bar won't be what kills me.

I finished tidying up the engine compartment, rearranging some wiring,
and generally cleaning up.

The best thing is the "dead pedal" mod! I have seen this here before and
finally undertook it myself. I am 6'0", but with 36" inseam, and that pedal
just didn't give me enough room to put my left leg out comfortably.

With just over 1.25" cut out of the middle of the plastic pedal piece, it makes
a world of difference. I should have done it years ago. I didn't take photos,
as it was one of my "midnight madness" projects, but others here have shown
the procedure with photos, I believe.

It is great now to just have that little bit more for the
old left leg. If any of you have the same issue, but don't want to pull that pedal out completely, give the re-section mod a try.

My "hibernation" was actually for the owner's health related issues. Nothing wrong with the weather or the car, just me.

I have seen the accelerator mod, not sure how much trouble it will be for me dinking around under there. I really don't want to have to take it all apart, then go have it welded. I recall it being rather involved getting it all apart, no? Maybe one of these days, if/when the car has to "go dark" for awhile again.

my bad... sorry for your health issues. hope things are better now.

I bought a new linkage from the local dealer, seems it was about $20.00. then had a shop cut and weld on that one, took him about 15 minutes to cut, weld and repaint the linkage. he replaced the linkages in another 5 minutes and charged me $30 for all his labor. I kept the "old" shorter linkage just in case anything went wrong or the next owner was height challenged.... no problems for over a year, and I really flog the gas pedal.

Sounds less of a PITA for the gas pedal mod than I thought that I remembered! I'll look up a writeup here to see if I want to do that now rather than later. Thanks for the heads up.

Bummer for such a string of cold, crummy weather for the midwest and east coast.
It is almost 70 on my patio, and here is a webcam look down at the beach: http://www.hoteldel.com/webcam/index.html

Thanks, you don't know how much I miss palm trees. That and I need to finish driving the 101/PCH to SD from LA. Have it covered in the Miata from Tillamook OR to LA, just need to get the stretch north to Vancouver BC and south to SD, and will have covered the west coast in a car. (In this case, the same car)

Broke it again. On the way to a top shop to see why my top was no where near where its suppose to be. I stopped by my Aunts came back out, water was all around the car. Topped off the cars radiator, cleaned up the mess and went to the bank. Came out of the bank popped the hood since I had seen another puddle. Hoped it was a hose. Nope radiator had a steady leak from a 6 to 7 inch crack in the plastic. Bonus check that I just cashed is almost spent already... there goes that new exhaust system. :)

You can do a radiator for under $100.00 yourself. Very easy job. Or even one hour of labor at any decent shop is still under $200.00. An exhaust is a lot more than that.

Many here, including myself, have bought and installed these

I have put a number in friends' cars, and am very

way to get a new, quality radiator in your car. One hour job for

Took out the spare tire from the trunk and set it aside in the garage.
The reasoning was that:
1) that tire looked so flimsy I wasn't sure if driving with it is a good idea, even only to a tire store / auto repair
2) she could always lose some weight, unsprung or otherwise
3) would be a PITA trying to swap out a blown tire in the middle of nowhere; more likely than not I would be stuck somewhere in the city or highway with no room for any of that
4) most importantly of all, we have a superb emergency service by insurance company (equivalent of AAA, only much better) that covers the entire country, why bother?

The only thing I am a wee bit concerned is weight distribution between front and back. My guess is any gain/loss anywhere is so negligible that it won't matter much at all in the grand scheme of things, especially when I never track/autocross.

If anything, I gained a tiny bit more trunk room and gas mileage :D

Today I finished installing the universal DRL module from Web Electric (http://www.webelectricproducts.com/) along with wiring up a Homelink garage door transmitter that is triggered by the high beams. :D

The DRL module can't be beat for only $40 shipped! It runs the bright, turn signal filaments as DRLs yet still allows the turn signals to blink, the dimmer parking lights to work when the parking/headlights are on, and also allows you to select synchronized/non-synchronized blink modes. Synchronized turns both DRLs off when you signal a turn. After the turn, both DRLs illuminate again. In the default, non-synchronized mode, the opposite side DRL stays illuminated while one side blinks. I chose this mode as I think it conveys the direction you are turning a little more clearly.

Wiring was easy using two extension harnesses off eBay. Unfortunately, they didn't fit without modifying the four socket tabs with a tiny Dremel grinding stone and replacing the thick rubber gasket with a thinner O-ring. I used them to minimize alterations to my OEM harness. It also allows me to return to the OEM setup in >10 minutes if the DRL module fails, or I change my mind about running DRLs.

I ran a separate relay for switched +12v power instead of tapping into a 15A circuit like the instructions recommend. I already had a relay for the horns so it was easy to wire a second in to power to the DRL module and the garage door opener. I took my time carefully running wires and keeping it all protected and hidden. Vampire taps were supplied but none were used. Every joint was soldered, sealed with liguid tape, heat shrunk, and taped again. Both the garage door and DRL modules attach to the back of the plastic relay support. Unless you look extremely closely, you can't tell anything has been added. :jump: The black plastic ties that hold them to the support give it away only if you are familiar with NB2 Miata wiring.

Here are two quick shots taken immediately after completion. The hood isn't even latched. I'll snap a few more after I take it out of hibernation. We still have snow on the ground and the roads are salty. :( Maybe I'll take video and post it if I get really motivated.

Got my huge fender dent pulled out. It's not perfect, and never will be as there are stretch marks and no real good way to reshape it to the way it once was, but it looks pretty good now. Only noticeable if you really look for it.

http://imageshack.us/a/img571/9606/wp000211h.jpg

And I also put in a nice pair of 8" Focal speakers. Had to cut some plastic inside the door panel (the lip that's on the other side of the speaker cover) to make it fit but they sound great and I'm extremely happy I took the time to upgrade. The PO, or whomever they used, did a terrible job on the previous speakers. No water protection, the crossovers were just sitting in the door (causing an annoying rattle) and had the wiring completely inconsistent. Now it's done properly.

I installed my new Robbins top. It was my first time doing it and what a total pain in the ass it was...
I consider myself pretty competent when it comes to working on cars, but I struggled a bit with this one, mostly because I've never done it before and a I was really tired from a long day at work. Over the course of the install, I missed a few details, so I had to go back and do a few things over again.

Started with me forgetting to install the headliner velcro into the retainer, so I had to pull the front of the top back apart to get to it. Took entirely too long to get the rainrail/rear of the top installed I had a really rough go at it trying to get the rain rail aligned with the studs. Then I had to go back and pull the trim off since I forgot to install the #4 bow straps behind the #4 and #10 studs. :bang:

Then it took me a while to get enough stretch on the top to engage the latches after the install, even with the latches adjusted all the way out. I figure after a few days, the top should loosen up enough that it won't be such a pain. Either way it's done! It took me about 7 hours start to finish, and I'll be happy if I never have to replace a soft top again!

Parts list and "How to":
http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=6244994&postcount=6

A quick flash of the high beams triggers the opener. If the ignition is NOT in the ON/RUN position, flashing the high beam does nothing. It is hidden, convenient, and most importantly secure!

The transmitter button was jumpered so it transmits whenever power is applied. If the high beams are used for extended periods the transmitter still only cycles once before powering down. The capacitor that sits on the negative leg of the relay coil starts ~0v. When the high beams come on, power is applied to the positive side of the relay coil. The transmitter runs and the capacitor start charging. After it charges, +12v is on each side of the coil so the relay opens removing +12v switched power from the transmitter. When the high beams are turned off, the resistors bleed off the capacitor charge so the circuit is ready to cycle again.

I can open the door, stop it midway, and close it again with only 1-2 seconds of rest/pause time for the cap to drain.

Buy a fender roller and roll/pull them out half an inch for bigger tires. It wont make them stock but it will pull them out nicely and make them symmetrical.

I got sick and tired of being cooped up in the house being sick and tired and having naught to eat and drink but soup and water, so I took the crazy lil' blue thing out for a run. It's a gorgeous day, so down the top and on the sunglasses went. I got myself a good smoothie and a decent chicken sandwich. It's amazing what sunlight, blood sugar, and a fun little car will do for one's mood.

In other news, I think I've figured out where my coolant keeps disappearing to. The little screw-in connector on the radiator fill neck that connects to the overflow hose/tank was allowing a little bit of fluid by. I tightened it up. I'll top it off again tomorrow (or this evening if I go out again) and see if that fixed it. Failing that, a dab (just a little!) of hi-temp silicone on the threads should do nicely.

No worries; I'd completely forgotten about my inbox. I don't have any digital pictures of it; the only ones I have are at my mom's house back in Florida in some of the family albums. Now that the roads through the mountains are good, I can get it hauled down here from where I'm having it stored from when I moved. I have to move some things around in the garage, too, but that's relatively easy.

The car isn't quite a basket case, but man, it needs a lot of work. Now that the Miata's more or less squared away, I can start putting money into it again. I've started a build book for it which should help keep me on track, but it'll likely take me a year or two to complete it. The vast majority of things are beyond my knowledge, patience, skill, or time, but one day the ol' Granny Green Grocery Gitter will ride again. And what a comfortable ride it is on torsion bars up front. :)

Thanks, I will take a look!
It's definitely not the rear window defrost, the plug is not even close. I don't remember unplugging anything from the seatbelt retractor area though but definitely will check it out

I recently pulled out my windblocker and it looks like the connection for the mini-bose amp and speakers in the windblock.

Picked up a new roof and carpeting for $200! The seller removed his original frame and roof from his 2004 Mazdaspeed and gave it to me for cheap!

That said, I still need to work out the rain rail details. I'm going to loosen it, ensure the flap is correctly guiding water into the rail, and then add a dab of silicone to the nuts and see if it's good. When that happens, I'll install the new carpeting!

Bought the car at 140,000 miles with no service records, so I've been going through step by step and catching up on the maintenance. Replaced the fuel filter today, which amazingly fixed the rough idle, and smoothed out the throttle response! Almost feels like a different car!

Buttoned up the 01 header conversion. Flushed the cooling system. Installed a Koyo 37mm radiator. Replaced the last two water hoses (to and from the oil cooler (PITA) I did not do when I did the timing belt/60k service. Installed the new oil gauge sender for the stock gauge conversion. Still have the oil pressure gauge to convert and braided break lines and fluid flush remaining. Sourcing parts for the water temp gauge conversion.

Replaced the valve gasket, and while the cover was off, I hit it with some flat black.
Then while I was waiting for it to dry, I went over to pick your part (50% off this weekend) and picked up some aftermarket pedals off a crx for $6!
So when I got back home, I cleaned them up and sprayed 'em with the flat black, and yellow caliper paint to match my soon-to-be-painted calipers, put them on, and put my gasket cover back on. (heel toe is much easier now :D)
Then I gave her a bath, and but some forever black on the roof to bring some life back into it.

On the docket for tomorrow: plasti dip the rims, paint my calipers, and fill her up with gas.

Today I cleaned out the drain tubes that have never been cleaned and pulled the seats out and cleaned the hell out of the dirty carpets. Oh and I removed the broken aftermarket power lock actuator that was preventing me from locking the door with the key. Tomorrow I get to change the diff fluid and do a brake flush. And yesterday I changed out the clutch slave. Next weekend will be the timing belt, cams and crank seals, water pump, and hopefully I'll get to the tranny fluid Tuesday. So much work to get my new to me 99 to where I want it to be. In the future I will be pulling the top off to give the rear deck and deck carpet a thorough cleaning. I found that 5 gauge wire for an amp can work in a pinch to get most of the crud out of the drains. Overall I think I've had a productive first week of ownership. Just waiting for the threat of rain to pass so I can give her the nice clay bar and wax she desperately needs.

If it is on the street, it isn't a real race. Also isn't cool or safe to do.
Hopefully you'll get over this urge before you or somebody else gets hurt.

These cars can be lots of fun, and competitive, in the right, safe, and legal
arena. Learn how to autocross, slalom, whatever that shows you really DO
know how to drive. Light to light street "racing" isn't it.

Just took my Miata out of the garage since winter is just about over. Had some problem since the battery was dead. Took it out and got it charged up at the service station, and when I hooked it back up, the alarms went wild.
I finally got them to shut down - (I really don't know what I did to get them to stop) - And it started up fine. Went for a nice drive in sunny weather.

Don't want to go through this again next spring, so... Does anyone here have any comments about the Deltran Battery Tender http://batterytender.com/battery-tender-junior-12v-at-0-75a.html
that is suppose to keep the battery up under storage? They are on sale here at Fleet Farm here for $24.95 right now and wondering if I should get one.

nwick,

I have used that exact same battery tender(s) for years. At least whatever its previous model was that looks exactly like it. I have had them on boats, RVs, bikes, and stored cars. Never, ever a problem, and never a dead battery, not once. Never a battery "fried" or whatever else is supposed to happen when you constantly over charge.

Best money I have spent when having to maintain so many vehicles over periods of non-use. I own four of them, all working perfectly. My own '99 was idle for 9 months, and it started up on the first try, all my electronics were good, and my radio on Ultragauge all kept their pre-sets. Not much else to say, but it works as advertised.

Had a whoobawhooba that varied with speed. Went to get tires rotated and balanced. Mechanic said all my wheels were bent.

Bought new wheels, (online, not from them) installed. No fix. Jacked car up and found out it was passenger side rear wheel hub bearing
. Expensive lesson learned. But I did replace my own hub assembly thing with my pops help in under two hours and now have lighter and wider wheel installed.
